GF's birthday
I just realised I have not updated my blog since last August. Incredibly long liao, haha. I think it's time to revert back to some posting, especially since Mr BC is complaining that I have not been updating.

Recently gave my GF a birthday 'surprise' by volunteering to cook a nice pork chops meal for her. She was a bit sick then, but she obligingly trust me to cook something nice for her (P.S. It was my first time cooking pork chops in my entire life, after the lasagne experiment which went surprisingly well and which had a bit of help from my GF). I printed out 2 different recipes, with the intention of letting her try out both. 1 was baked orange pork chops, and the other was honey-soy pork chops. Tried out the honey-soy pork chops first (because the baked orange pork chops need to be marinated and left overnight in the fridge) during dinner time. I thought the result was unsatisfactory, as 1) the pork chops turned out to be very small in size and 2) the honey-soy flavouring on top seems mighty sticky and little. My GF thought that they are fine though. She also commented that the salad (comprising of peas, corn, diced carrots and salad dressing) that I cooked to go along with the pork chops was quite good. The sour cream and chives mashed potatoes (instant packet) that was also included in the meal tasted quite salty.

I also bought a 'Guanaja' cake from Rive Gauche which we began to feast upon at the stroke of midnight. Of course, this was after my GF has made her birthday wish and blown out the candles on the cake la.

Oh ya, I haven't mentioned about the gift I bought for her. I previously thought of 5 options, but eventually didn't opt for any of them. I instead saw a Sony PictureStation (a very compact digital photo printer) at Best Denki and thought that it might make a good gift for her, as she can easily print out the digital photos (of us... :P) she liked and store them either in an album or in a convenient place where she can view anytime. I presented her the present slightly after midnight and I think she likes it, or at least I hope she likes it.

You may have noticed that I have not mentioned about how the baked orange pork chops turned out. Well, I do not really wish to mention more because it was a bit of a disaster (hai...). They were a little overcooked and my GF thought that the honey-soy pork chops tasted better.

Well, my comeback blog entry turned out to be incredibly long. Well, at least it somehow compensates for my inactivity during the past 6 months. =P
