GF's birthday Feb. 5th, 2008 @ 08:56 pm
I just realised I have not updated my blog since last August. Incredibly long liao, haha. I think it's time to revert back to some posting, especially since Mr BC is complaining that I have not been updating.

Recently gave my GF a birthday 'surprise' by volunteering to cook a nice pork chops meal for her. She was a bit sick then, but she obligingly trust me to cook something nice for her (P.S. It was my first time cooking pork chops in my entire life, after the lasagne experiment which went surprisingly well and which had a bit of help from my GF). I printed out 2 different recipes, with the intention of letting her try out both. 1 was baked orange pork chops, and the other was honey-soy pork chops. Tried out the honey-soy pork chops first (because the baked orange pork chops need to be marinated and left overnight in the fridge) during dinner time. I thought the result was unsatisfactory, as 1) the pork chops turned out to be very small in size and 2) the honey-soy flavouring on top seems mighty sticky and little. My GF thought that they are fine though. She also commented that the salad (comprising of peas, corn, diced carrots and salad dressing) that I cooked to go along with the pork chops was quite good. The sour cream and chives mashed potatoes (instant packet) that was also included in the meal tasted quite salty.

I also bought a 'Guanaja' cake from Rive Gauche which we began to feast upon at the stroke of midnight. Of course, this was after my GF has made her birthday wish and blown out the candles on the cake la.

Oh ya, I haven't mentioned about the gift I bought for her. I previously thought of 5 options, but eventually didn't opt for any of them. I instead saw a Sony PictureStation (a very compact digital photo printer) at Best Denki and thought that it might make a good gift for her, as she can easily print out the digital photos (of us... :P) she liked and store them either in an album or in a convenient place where she can view anytime. I presented her the present slightly after midnight and I think she likes it, or at least I hope she likes it.

You may have noticed that I have not mentioned about how the baked orange pork chops turned out. Well, I do not really wish to mention more because it was a bit of a disaster (hai...). They were a little overcooked and my GF thought that the honey-soy pork chops tasted better.

Well, my comeback blog entry turned out to be incredibly long. Well, at least it somehow compensates for my inactivity during the past 6 months. =P

Ugly experience at Marina Bay Run this morning Aug. 26th, 2007 @ 11:19 pm
Was quite pissed off over a very ugly experience this morning after completing my 6km run. Every participant of the run is entitled to a goodie bag after the run, but somehow I couldn't find the goodie bag booth anywhere. Strange, I thought. Then I went to ask someone who had a goodie bag on his hand on where is the location of the goodie bag booth. He told me that it was over to my right, but he also told me that the goodie bags have already run out. What?! Run out already?! And there are still many runners who haven't completed the 6km run, and they have somehow run out?? Then I heard from donky that there is no need to give the goodie bag coupon to the people who are manning the booth. You can just simply take the goodie bag and leave once you have finished the run. And what does this result? Inconsiderate people or non-participants of the run who take more than 1 goodie bag, leaving those who finished the run later empty-handed. In summary, we are paying $ to finance other ppl's goodie bags. Where was the order-liness that was seen last year and 2 years ago? Not to say that I am unhappy over paying $ and getting nothing in return. I am just unhappy over how inconsiderate ppl these days can be. To these inconsiderate ppl: are the goodie bags like gold to you? See no order-liness so you just take advantage of the situation issit? Tsk tsk... anyway I heard the goodie bag sux this year. Even more surprising was the fact that the goodie bags come in dull red plastic bags that u usually get from buying vegetables in the local wet market.

The Simpsons Movie rating Aug. 11th, 2007 @ 12:29 pm
Story: 3/5

I adore Simpsons-style humour, thus there may be some biasedness towards the overall rating. :P

Back from Melbourne Aug. 7th, 2007 @ 11:46 pm
I'm finally back from a 9-day trip to Melbourne. It was great and I spent too much $$ over there (most of it on food and card games). The weather was cold sia... Averaging 5-13 degrees. And it got even colder along the Great Ocean Road, especially when it also rained on both of the days over there. The wind was so strong that the rain was falling like spikes. OW! But heng, the rain lasted for only a short period of time, and I still managed to get a lot of good photos of the Great Ocean Road. Also got onto an helicopter and captured photos of some parts of the Great Ocean Road from a different perspective. Luckily, my height phobia didn't act up, and I really enjoyed the view from the sky. Will be uploading the photos I took in Melbourne soon. Please be patient...
